Indapamide Information
Indapamide is drug, which belongs to the group called diuretics. Indapamide helps in reducing the amount of fluid in the body by increasing the amount of urine excreted by the body.
Indapamide Indications
Indapamide is primarily used in treating high blood pressure or hypertension. Indapamide may also be used for purposes other than those mentioned in this guide.
Indapamide Warnings
Indapamide may not be advisable if you have any of the following conditions:
- Diabetes mellitus
- Gout
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
Inform your doctor if you have these conditions before taking Indapamide so your doctor can take the necessary precautions such as adjust your dosage or monitor your intake of Indapamide.
It is not known whether Indapamide could harm an unborn child or not. Do not take this drug without your doctor’s permission if you are pregnant or might be pregnant during treatment. In general, it is not advisable to take Indapamide when a woman is pregnant.
It is also unknown if Indapamide passes into breast milk. Indapamide is also not known to cause any defects to a nursing infant. However, do not take Indapamide without your doctor’s consent if you are nursing a baby.
Indapamide Intake Guidelines
Indapamide should be taken in exactly as described by your doctor. If there are matters that you do not understand, refer to your doctor, nurse or a pharmacist and ask him or her to explain those matters to you.
Make sure to follow all of your doctor’s instructions when taking this medicine to prevent unwanted effects.
Indapamide Dosage
Dosage of Indapamide should be obtained from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regards to a variety of factors, which include severity of the condition, age and others.
Do not take in more or less of Indapamide so as not to alter its affects and to prevent overdose.
Indapamide Overdose
Symptoms of overdose of Indapamide are not known. However, if you think you are experiencing overdose, seek immediate medical attention or call poison control. Inform your doctor afterwards.
Indapamide Missed Dose
Doses of Indapamide should not be missed. If a dose is missed, however, take it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent doses according to schedule. Do not take double doses of this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Indapamide Side Effects
Indapamide may have any of the following serious side effects and allergic reactions:
- Dryness of mouth
- Increased thirst
- Irregular heartbeat
- Mood or mental changes
- Muscle cramps or pain
- Nausea or vomiting
- Unusual tiredness or weakness
- Weak pulse
- Skin rash
- Itching
- Hives
If you experience any of these, discontinue use of Indapamide and inform your doctor.
Indapamide may also have less serious side effects that are more likely to occur. They include the following:
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Trouble in sleeping
- Stomach upset
If you experience any of these, continue using Indapamide but inform your doctor immediately.
Other side effects may also occur when you take Indapamide. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual while or after taking Indapamide.
Indapamide Drug Reactions
Indapamide may interact with the following drugs:
- Digital glycosides
- Lithium
Other drugs may also interact with Indapamide. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications other than Indapamide including over the counter prescriptions. |
